About the Book (no spoilers):
This series (when I read it) is a 5-in-1 book series about a serial killer named Lana and her FBI profiler boyfriend, Logan Bennet. More than that though, it’s a series that is heartbreaking, intense, very dark and morally ambivalent. Before becoming a serial killer, Lana was just a young girl in a town full of men who took too much from her in the most vile of ways. She remembers them all and now goes through her own list with an agenda, concluding to the biggest plot in the end. When she meets Logan, it’s very unexpected and ethically strenuous being that he’s the FBI profiler working on her case. However, she falls for him anyways, and him her, loving how good and pure he is. But when he finds out and knows about everything, the biggest question is how he will handle it – that will keep you reading and wanting to find out. Mostly, it leaves you wanting to know how it will end for Lana. Believe me, it wasn’t exactly as expected.
My Review:
I read this series back in April of 2024 and I loved it so so so much, it quickly and easily became an absolute top 5 favorite of dark romances. It was an easy read for me and it kept me so interested that I remember flying through it and it’s a pretty thick book (if you get the 5-in-1). I think it actually helped having it be a 5-in-1 because I felt like it made it go by quicker.
I love that SHE was the serial killer and that it was a “touch him and you die” type of trope.
Really though I loved the take on this story and the plot(s). Lanas story was absolutely heartbreaking and soul shattering. What happened to her and what she had to witness was brutal and disgusting. As it would be to any woman, it was beyond damaging in so many ways, but I loved what she did with her grief and anger no matter how “morally grey” it was because it’s what many I’m sure *wish* they could do. What I mean is; getting justice when those who are supposed to help you get it, don’t, because they’re so fucking corrupt. So I fell in love with Lanas character (and her best friend Jakes) very quickly. To me, she was so easy to love. I was only hoping that if / when Logan found out, he would think the same.
Now Logan and Lana…PHEW do I love them so muuuuch, I know I say that often but I really do, it’s been MONTHS and I still think about them and their quotes.
I would 100% recommend this series to anyone who’s a fan of the darker, more depraved, side of romance stories.
